$20 billion

Hi,

You’d think a company that makes upwards of a billion dollars in revenue—or several billion!—would have the means to do better for animals.

But companies like BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse (which saw $1.3 billion in revenue last year) and Land O’Lakes, Inc. (which saw a whopping $19 billion in revenue) keep focusing on profit over progress.

And while BJ’s Restaurant and Land O’Lakes celebrate massive earnings, millions of hens remain trapped in systems that make billions of dollars—but won’t make an effort to help the hens in their operations. Even though they said they would.

How is that fair?!

Short answer: it’s not. That’s why we’re calling on these companies to honor their commitments to stop holding hens in extreme confinement. Here’s the scoop. 🥄

“Life looks good from here”

For a place that claims to be “the place to escape the day to day,” life in BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse’s operations looks grim for hens. Trapped in extreme confinement, their feet twisted around wire caging, hens live in agony. And because of BJ’s Restaurant’s lack of accountability to its commitment to stop using battery cages by 2025, thousands of innocent birds continue to suffer.

Bigger than butter

Land O’Lakes has become a familiar face because of its butter, but the company has a significant product line—including eggs—and it operates in more than 50 countries. Land O’Lakes said it would stop keeping hens in extreme confinement by 2025, but the company isn’t publicly sharing its progress. Until it does, millions of hens could remain trapped in a lifetime of agony.

Let’s take two actions and send these billionaire corporations a powerful message: it’s time to stop profiting off suffering.

Thank you for showing up for the animals!

P.S. It’s not okay to make billions off hens living in agony. Will you join me in taking two actions for hens today? Let’s send BJ’s Restaurant and Land O’Lakes messages they can’t ignore!
