The summer is heating up, but that doesn’t mean Mad and Team Dean are slowing down! I wanted to make sure you saw the latest coverage of some of Mad’s work around the country and at home in PA — take a look:
Madeleine joined MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart to discuss both the Judiciary Committee hearing with FBI Director Christopher Wray – where he faced attacks from House GOP leaders – as well as the ongoing WGA strike and the need for fair contracts for all workers. You can watch their entire conversation here:
Mad recently visited Customs and Border Protection facilities on the southern border in El Paso, TX, with several other House Democrats. They were pleased to see much improved conditions for migrating families as well as those experiencing homelessness or struggling with substance use disorder. You can read more about the visit and the bipartisan border reform legislation, The Dignity Act, here.
Having lived in Glenside for nearly her entire life, Mad was proud to visit FarmerJawn Community Greenhouses in Elkins Park. The community at FarmerJawn is increasing access to healthy, nutritious food options for those living in food deserts by growing farm-fresh, organic produce right here in PA-04. Read more about Mad’s visit and FarmerJawn’s work here.
Also in Elkins Park, Madeleine spoke about the preservation of historic Lynnewood Hall:
“All of us are familiar with this grand mansion and estate in our community, and it is so exciting to see the start of the restoration of the historic Lynnewood Hall. Its future as a hub for arts, culture, education, and outdoor space in Cheltenham is a tremendous win for Montgomery County.”
You can read more about the preservation efforts in The Reporter.
Madeleine requested federal funds to support the rehabilitation of the La Mott Community Center, which shares grounds with Camp William Penn — once one of the largest federal training camps for Black troops during the Civil War. The center has also served as a polling location and a school throughout its storied history.
You can read more about the La Mott Community Center, the history of Camp William Penn, and what is being done to protect and restore the building here.
Thanks for tuning in and catching up with us!
