** New Law to Combat Street Takeovers
------------------------------------------------------------

Have you experienced a street takeover? Charlotte streets have been blocked by crowds and large groups of cars performing burnouts and other vehicle tricks.

“It creates an atmosphere of absolute chaos and lawlessness and disruption,” CMPD Major Dave Johnson said. “This brazen activity obviously poses significant risk to public safety.”

Thankfully, a new law has been signed by Governor Roy Cooper to address this problem. Read more here ([link removed]) .

Some good news: No tax increase! I would also like to share with you this video ([link removed]) regarding the city’s FY 2024 Budget. As Chair of the Budget Committee, I am especially proud that we have made increased investments to address our community’s needs and raised salaries for city employees for five straight years without raising taxes.
I officially filed for re-election accompanied by my family and supporters for a 4th term on the Charlotte City Council. I very much want to continue the work I have started as your At-Large City Councilwoman. I humbly ask for your vote in the 2023 municipal election.
