John,

Think back to your favorite childhood memories. More than likely, they
involve imagination, laughter, and uninhibited play. Recreation is how children (and adults!) develop a sense of autonomy, competence, and relatedness.

Preserving the Story of Racial Justice

[link removed]

Civil rights activist Medgar Evers was tragically assassinated outside
his home in 1963, which became the catalyst for passing the Civil
Rights Act of 1964. TPL partnered with the National Park Service to
restore the home and open it to the public.

With Collaboration Comes Power

In the process of park building, two seemingly different
communities-one in rural Washington, the other in densely
populated South L.A.-learned they had a lot in common, and a lot
to learn from one another.

NPR Shares TPL's Schoolyards Work

Converting asphalt into vibrant community schoolyards makes for
healthier cities. TPL has helped transform nearly 300 schoolyards
nationwide, giving more people easy access to outdoor green space. NPR
has the story.

Bridging the Front Range Divide

Designate Springfield Race Riot National Monument

[link removed]

Fewer than a quarter of our national parks and monuments are dedicated
to telling the stories of historically marginalized and
underrepresented communities. It is well past time to change that.
Help properly recognize the history of the violent race riots that
took place in Springfield, Illinois: send your letter to President
Biden to designate the site of the Springfield Race Riot as a national
monument today.
