Michael Bloomberg wants to cut Social Security and has poured more than $360 million into corporate media advertising.

Friend,

Michael Bloomberg hasn't won a single vote in the Democratic primary race.

He's taken positions that are massively unpopular with voters—including wanting to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

So why are the corporate media treating him as a serious, major contender for the Democratic nomination? Because the corporate media has been bought.

Michael Bloomberg has poured more than $360 million into corporate media advertising—almost 10 times more than Bernie Sanders and 15 times more than Elizabeth Warren. Meanwhile, his record is full of the kind of elite-friendly policy positions beloved by the 1%-ers who run the corporate media.

Bloomberg says raising taxes on the wealthy is "class welfare" and supports raising the retirement age to reduce the deficit created by the Bush-Trump tax cuts for the rich.

That's anathema to Democratic voters and would be devastating to working people—but it's music to the ears of the super-rich corporate executives that run our major news media outlets.

At Common Dreams, we are a news outlet entirely insulated from the influence of corporate advertisers and billionaire candidates because we accept no advertising and have no corporate board demanding every higher profits. We're nonprofit and rely only on small donations from our readers.
