John, there is a price tag on No Labels.
Unlike some political organizations and campaigns, No Labels is not required to disclose where they receive a majority of their funding. They are, however, known for their close ties to corporate interests, GOP mega-donors, and billionaires.
The point of No Labels, and any candidate funded by them, is to split the 2024 ticket and potentially clear the way for a Republican win. According to reporting by Mother Jones, they are registering with states as a party:
"In September, the No Labels Party of Florida registered with the state’s elections division as a political party. Two months later, it received its first donation: $35,000 from No Labels Ballot Access, an outfit formerly known as Insurance Policy for America, which was created by No Labels and initially seeded with $2.4 million in dark money—meaning funds from sources No Labels won’t identify."
John, the threat of enabling any close calls with another Trump presidency should supersede third-party runs. Our democracy was threatened numerous times, and then January 6th happened. The expressed plans and policy decisions of the GOP align solely with the wants of the former President.
If a third-party group uses progressive rhetoric but funds conservative policy, the real goal is not changing anything for average Americans. When dark money and corporate interests corrupt the notion of moving past partisanship and "congressional gridlock," then it only works to support the Republican party. It then blocks the Biden administration's push for legislation that supports the working class.
