Hello Friend!
Over 300 acres of America's wetlands, streams, homes, and other natural habitats are in immediate danger thanks to the actions of House Republicans. During the debt ceiling standoff, Republicans brokered a deal for the automatic approval of the controversial Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP), circumventing pending lawsuits and community input. Congressman Connolly led the effort to get this language removed from the debt ceiling bill, but the fight isn't over yet.
The Wilderness Society has sued challenging the constitutionality of Congress's actions last month. On July 5th, Congressman Connolly—alongside Reps. McClellan, Beyer, Scott, and Wexton—filed an amicus brief outlining the issues surrounding the constitutionality of the automatic approval that the pipeline achieved from Republicans twisting arms to include it in the Fiscal Responsibility Act. The brief says that automatic approval is in flagrant violation of the policy review process established by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). House Republicans don’t want you to fight for Virginia’s land because it gets in the way of their political gamesmanship. Let’s show them what we think about that by cosigning the amicus brief today with millions of other citizens in the region!
We need your support to protect our environment, private property rights, and the voices of impacted communities, specifically people of color and the working class whose livelihoods would be disproportionately affected by this project. Let's work together to demand that our public officials are held responsible by cosigning on to the amicus brief before a potential environmental catastrophe occurs. Please sign here.
Thank you for your support!
Thank You,
Team Connolly
