NO HELICOPTERING
This Year I’m Gonna Parent Like It’s 1999

“Something miraculous happened to me recently,” writes Carolyn Abram. “I realized my kids, ages 9 and 7, are now old enough to walk the three blocks to the bus stop by themselves.”

Talk about a milestone! Now, she knew she had plenty of ways to keep tabs on them remotely while they did this: “I could slip an AirTag into their backpacks, buy them a Gizmo watch, or hand them a cell phone.” But she’s opting for something different: Instead, I decided to pretend like it was the 1990s, when we simply didn’t have the technology to watch every single minute of our children’s existence.” And today she’s talking about what she decided to do instead, and why. Check it out.
