John, after a critical stretch of I-95 collapsed, some experts said it would take months to get traffic flowing again. But here in Pennsylvania, we got it done in 12 days. Look, I know we've all become accustomed to infrastructure projects getting mired down in a slog of reviews, permits, and delays — and dragging on for years as a result. But it doesn't have to be that way. Americans can do big things again. That's why I wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post about the playbook we developed here in Pennsylvania. I hope you'll take a moment to read it, John.
Our experience reopening I-95 provides real lessons for how state and local leaders across our nation can take on big infrastructure projects, from highway and bridge repair to broadband expansion and clean energy, and get them done — safely, quickly, and smartly. I expand on these points in the piece, but here are some of our key takeaways: 1️⃣ Empower strong leadership 2️⃣ Speed up bureaucracy 3️⃣ Encourage creativity 4️⃣ Work together John, infrastructure is the backbone of America. And with the necessary resources, the right team, and a smart strategy, there is tremendous opportunity to get some big things done in the years ahead. Sincerely, Gov. Josh Shapiro
