It was an honor to meet with members of the Mississippi Society of Washington, D.C. I appreciated the opportunity to share details of our work in Congress.

All those in attendance have strong ties to our great state and strive to improve the quality of life for Mississippians. The organization meets 3-4 times a year for large networking events. In June, more than 700 Mississippians gathered for Mississippi on the Mall (below) to make new friends and to fellowship. 

I am pleased to introduce our summer intern Jessica Pettis. The Mississippi State University graduate earned degrees in Political Science and Communications. While in college, Jessica served as vice president of the Stennis-Montgomery Association. She is the daughter of Mark and Rachel Pettis. The Congressional App Challenge is now open! The CAC is a nationwide event that allows U.S. students to compete against their district peers by creating and exhibiting a software application or “app” for web, PC, tablet, mobile, or other platforms of their choice.

The 2022 Congressional App Challenge winner for Mississippi's First Congressional District is Isaac Chamorro. The Oxford High School student submitted an app called "Nutrate." It was developed to help users improve their diet by tracking meals and nutritional intake.
