House Republicans pass controversial defense bill

The House narrowly passed a defense bill on Friday that contains controversial anti-abortion and LGBTQ+ measures, but it is not expected to pass the Democrat-controlled Senate. Conservative policies were added to the bill to win over members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus.

Former President Donald Trump said he received a letter saying he's the "target" of the grand jury probe into the attempt to overthrow the 2020 election. Trump learned on Sunday that he may be charged with a federal crime and is likely to be indicted for his role in the insurrection.
