Hi John,

If you care about climate change you’ll want to hear this fact. Power plants are responsible for one-fourth of ALL U.S. climate emissions. It’s dangerous, but the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is taking steps to stop the pollution at its source. All we need is your help:

Nearly 5,000 activists have raised their voice for cleaner power! Join EDF Action and help us reach our goal of 10,000 comments before the August deadline.

Submit a public comment to EPA and urge them to finalize comprehensive limits on power plant pollution before the end of the year! With your help we can cut climate pollution and strengthen the ability of every community to thrive.

Right now there are no federal limits on the amount of climate pollution these facilities can emit. Meaning that coal-fired power plants are free to spew tons of pollution into our air each and every year.

And we’re already feeling its impact. Pollution is making climate change worse, intensifying dangerous weather events, droughts and oppressive heat waves across the country. Last year alone, the U.S. experienced 18 storms that cost $1 billion or more in damages. And today millions of people across the South are suffering through record breaking heat — with temperatures reaching up to 129 degrees!

That’s why EPA’s latest proposal is so important. If finalized, this new rule would require power plants to meet new performance-based emissions limits — slashing pollution at a time when we need it most. In fact, these standards can reduce carbon emissions by 617 million metric tons from 2028 to 2042! But we need your help to get them across the finish line.

Power plants are a major source of climate pollution. Help us change that.

Thank you for taking action,
