The Right Is Using the Anti-Abortion Supreme Court Ruling to Attack Trans Care. Will It Work?
-- The Advocate
You read that right, John. Extremists judges in Tennessee used the Supreme Court ruling that dismantled Roe to enforce the state's horrific ban on gender-affirming care.
They even referenced Justice Clarence Thomas's concurring opinion, that because gender-affirming care was not named in the Constitution, it can be banned. We've said it before and I'll say it again now: the right to privacy and bodily autonomy - two rights enshrined by Roe - are under siege.
This is dangerous precedent - and we can't let it go unopposed. It's up to us to elect a new group of LGBTQ+ leaders who will ensure bills like these are blocked in the legislatures.
The candidates who win this year will decide who has access to healthcare. They'll decide who can get married, who can be out at work and whose stories can be told in schools. If you’re committed to electing these candidates, defending LGBTQ+ rights and preserving equality, pitch in here!
It's clear extremist right-wing politicians are going to keep introducing these bills and spreading their hate. They WANT to force these bills into our court systems and dismantle years of pro-LGBTQ+ cases.
We need leaders who will take action to keep anti-equality bigots OUT of our bedrooms and stop the assault on LGBTQ+ rights. Pitch in to help LGBTQ+ Victory Fund elect more strong LGBTQ+ champions for equality!
Thank you,
