Earlier today my campaign announced our fundraising numbers and I wanted to make sure that I relayed my thanks, while also giving a little bit of context:

$182,000+ raised, $124,000+ on hand, over 700 contributions, 80% from first time donors to our campaign, raised 96% from within NC

Some bigger numbers have already been reported this cycle, but I cannot express to you how excited and proud I am for the fundraising this campaign has been able to accomplish in the first half of this year – and it's all thanks to you, John.

To be honest, this is more money than I've raised in any race I've ever run, from more donors than I've ever had before. We didn't raise this money from lobbyists. We didn't raise this from corporate PACs. I certainly didn't loan any of it to myself. This was a true grassroots fundraising effort, bolstered by your continued support!

Usually when people start a statewide run they have a large set of wealthy family and friends that immediately pour in huge sums to their campaign, and on top of that, most statewide candidates are wealthy themselves and will loan themselves sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I don’t have that luxury. I have a great group of core supporters and my family that have been with me since my very first campaign in 2018, but for the most part, for this campaign, I had to go out and sell my vision to the people of North Carolina. I’m not from a family that is North Carolina political royalty, and I don’t have a wealthy network I have been curating since I was a child. I’m just a kid from Alexander County who has a vision for what our state could be if we have a Government that truly invests in its people. And I hoped that many of you would buy into that vision as well, and I am so unbelievably thankful that so many of you have.

The reality is there were a lot of people who were not sure how strong this campaign was going to be. I had a lot of phone calls where bigwigs had told me “Well, let's see what kind of traction you can get” or “I don’t want to get involved this early.” But even with all those headwinds we have been able to put up an amazing fundraising number that resoundingly shows that this is a campaign that is built to win, with a message that resonates, and support that stretches to every single corner of North Carolina.

It's still a little early to know for sure if we will have a primary, but regardless who may choose to run it is clear that no candidate, Democratic or Republican, will have the background, experience, vision to do this job as well as I will.

Additionally, I’m also proud to have earned the support and endorsement of over 150 elected officials and community leaders [[link removed]] . So not only do we have strong monetary support from around the state, our political support is unmatched, and I am so thankful to everyone who has chosen to join our team for this race!
This is the first milestone in our race, and there will be plenty more, so while I thank you for your support, I hope you’ll consider chipping in to help us continue this momentum. Our first task was to show we were for real. We resoundingly accomplished that feat. Now it's time to show exactly what this campaign is made of, and I hope we can count on your support!
