SOLIDARITY CENTER CONDEMNS MURDERS OF UNION LEADERS IN BANGLADESH, HONDURAS
A garment union leader in Bangladesh and four garment union leaders in Honduras were killed in June, murders the Solidarity Center and global union and human rights organizations are strongly condemning, and which they say highlight the need for employers and governments in every country to ensure workers can safely exercise their basic rights to form and join unions.

AFRICAN TRADE UNION LEADERS JOIN FORCES IN HISTORIC DEMOCRACY SUMMIT
At the first official Summit for Democracy side event in Africa, organized by the Solidarity Center and co-hosted by the Multilateral Partnership for Organizing, Worker Empowerment and Rights (M-POWER) and Zambian Congress of Trade Unions, dozens of union leaders discussed the essential role of unions in strengthening democracy and shared strategies for advancing more fair societies through one of democracy's essential components—worker rights. RIGHTS DEFENDERS, CENTRAL ASIA GOVERNMENTS UNITE AGAINST FORCED LABOR
A major convening in May brought together government representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and nongovernmental and civil society stakeholders to develop a joint action plan to combat forced labor and advance worker rights in the region.

BANGLADESH: IMPACT OF THE CLIMATE CRISIS, POLLUTION ON TANNERY WORKERS
A survey of Bangladesh tannery workers illustrates how industrial pollution, harsh working conditions and low wages leave workers, their families and their communities increasingly vulnerable to climate-related shocks in the country.

PALESTINE UNIONS CAMPAIGN TO ENFORCE MINIMUM WAGE LAW
After pushing for a higher minimum wage in Palestine, unions now are campaigning to ensure the new law is enforced. With Solidarity Center support, the Youth and Campaign Committees of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions (PGFTU) and the Palestine Journalists Syndicate conducted a survey of workers in low-wage jobs to determine the prevalence of wage underpayment.
