Dear team,
Center for Reproductive Rights lawyers are in Texas state court right now holding the state accountable for the consequences of its dangerous abortion bans.
Over the next few days, the court will hear arguments from both sides in Zurawski v. State of Texas , a lawsuit we filed on behalf of Texas women denied abortions despite serious pregnancy complications that threatened their lives, health, and future fertility. Our lawsuit is the first time women who were denied abortions have sued a state since Roe v. Wade was overturned.
Our plaintiffs traveled from across Texas to Austin to give testimony at the hearing and be present for the proceedings. We will be live streaming the press briefing in Texas today, you can watch here: [[link removed]]

Here's what we're asking Texas: let doctors practice medicine and keep their pregnant patients safe. It's common sense.
Texas's extreme abortion bans are creating chaos and confusion for patients and the doctors and hospitals that treat them. Lawmakers claim the bans have exceptions for medical emergencies, but our plaintiffs have suffered from being denied medically necessary abortions. The fact is, Texans in obstetrical emergencies are not able to access the care they need to save their lives.
We are so incredibly proud to be representing 15 brave plaintiffs. Amanda Zurawski, Lauren Miller, Lauren Hall, Anna Zargarian, Ashley Brandt, Dr. Austin Dennard, Kylie Beaton, Jessica Bernardo, Samantha Casiano, Taylor Edwards, Kiersten Hogan, Lauren Van Vleet, Elizabeth Weller, Dr. Damla Karsan, and Dr. Judy Levison are all going through this difficult legal process—not just for themselves, but so others will not have to experience what they did. You can read their stories here. [[link removed]]
Thank you for standing with these plaintiffs as they share their stories. Together, we will continue fighting for them and the health and safety of pregnant people around the world.
In solidarity,
Center for Reproductive Rights
