Biden Boots Daily Signal Reporter From White House Press Briefings
- Two weeks from now, The Daily Signal’s chief news correspondent, Fred Lucas, will lose his White House press credentials. It’s the latest—and perhaps most brazen—attempt by President Joe Biden to limit media access to what he regularly calls “the People’s House.”
- The White House Press Office will implement new rules July 31, when all “hard passes” expire. Lucas, holder of a hard pass since 2009, no longer will be able to easily attend White House press briefings or access the sprawling Pennsylvania Avenue campus —as he has done for the past 14 years.
- These new rules can be used to silence conservative voices by giving Biden’s press team greater power to expel journalists it doesn’t like.
- The Daily Signal lacks accreditation by Congress or Supreme Court, which the White House now requires. Lucas recently applied to both institutions, although it’s unclear when he’ll receive a response and unlikely he’ll be approved, if history is a guide.

U.S. Has Welcomed More Than 500,000 Migrants as Result of Biden Border Policies
- The immigration parole programs created by the Biden administration amount to the most significant expansion of legal immigration in three decades—without consent from Congress.
- In less than two years, the administration has allowed at least 541,000 migrants to enter the U.S. through the immigration parole authority, which gives federal officials the power to authorize the entry of foreigners who lack visas.
- The widespread use of parole is evidence of the Biden administration’s abuse of authority and practice of circumventing the limits Congress placed on work and immigrant visas.
- Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas is overseeing a broad scale suspension of immigration laws and is acting with reckless disregard for the enormous harm done to America’s communities. He deserves impeachment.

Supreme Court Term Limits: Still a ‘Solution’ in Search of a Problem
- The Left today is losing at the Supreme Court, and they don’t like it one bit. They respond by smearing the justices responsible for decisions they don’t like with fake complaints about “ethics” or want to literally manipulate how the court was designed to get their way more often, including a demand for judicial term limits.
- What really matters to the Left is not how long judges serve, but the kind of judge they are during that service.
- America’s Founders did not limit the terms of federal judges because, as mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, protecting judges from political interference is critical.
- Changing that by imposing term limits — which would require a constitutional amendment in any case — would not solve the problems supporters cite but would only undermine the judiciary’s independence.

Michigan’s Hate Crime Law is Unconstitutional. Full Stop.
- Last month, the Michigan House passed Bill 4474—legislation that would make it a felony hate crime offense to cause someone to "feel terrorized, frightened, or threatened" with words—deliberately misgendering someone, for example—subject to a potential penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
- This bill is unconstitutional and to argue otherwise ignores two of the U.S. Supreme Court’s newly minted rulings, 303 Creative v. Elenis and Counterman v. Colorado, on what speech the First Amendment protects—and what it doesn’t.
- HB 4474 compels alignment with the state’s preferred orthodoxy and points the way toward even bolder government efforts to censor unpopular or politically inexpedient speech.
- The government may not prohibit expression merely because it might prove offensive to some or run contrary to its stated policy objectives. Disagreement is not discrimination.
