Viewpoint discrimination: Alleged violent, dangerous, and hateful speech leads Eventbrite to scrap event
Hi Friend,
Eventbrite pulled all the stops on this one. Our “Let Women Speak Austin” event was canceled because Eventbrite thought it “Violates our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, specifically our policy on Hateful, Dangerous, or Violent Content and Events.”
“Let Women Speak Austin” is an event in which we are advocating for our need to preserve and maintain our spaces such as bathrooms, locker rooms, prisons, dressing rooms, and sororities. Events like this one where we come together and use our voices is crucial to continue advocating for the preservation of these single-sex spaces.
The IWF team has been conducting research into Eventbrite, and it should come as no surprise that major shareholders of the public company include The Vanguard Group, Inc. (9.33%) and BlackRock (6.95%) — companies promoting and adopting progressive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
Moreover, Eventbrite has a market share of 52% in the reservation-online-booking market — controlling over half of the market and means for people to share invites to one another.
Now Eventbrite joins our long list of companies who have discriminated against conservative women and viewpoints — silencing and cutting us out. We can’t let companies get away with this.
The only way to achieve real, lasting change is to come together as a unified force. Thanks to our network of supporters who stand ready to take on anyone who tries to tear us down or shut us up we will push back on Eventbrite's bigotry.
We need your voice, Friend. Join us in taking action: tell Eventbrite executives that it is wrong and discriminatory to cancel women's voices and pro-women events! Tell them to ‘Let Women Speak’!
