Time and again I am asked, “How are we going to pay for it?”
How can we pay for everyone to have healthcare? How can we afford to ramp down our fossil fuel production and develop sustainable sources of energy? How can we afford to give everyone the opportunity for a cost-free higher education?
But the question is not “How are we going to pay for it,” it’s “How do we spend our money now?”
The question of how we’re going to pay for the programs that will bring about the economic u-turn this country urgently needs is a matter of our national priorities – and the reach of our political imaginations.

Our government, which is supposed to be of the people, by the people, for the people, has become one that is of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations.
This mass accumulation of wealth in the hands of the very few and at the expense of the many is unsustainable; it is causing the decline of our democracy – and most of all, it is immoral.
I’m running for president to establish a 21st Century Economic Bill of Rights [[link removed]] that will be the foundation of a moral economy.
It’s time we put an end to corporate welfare and invest in our people. I hope you will join me in this effort and give generously to make it so.
