The Alabama Legislature is now consideringtwo different new congressional maps, neither of which includes the second majority-Black district the state was ordered to draw. Alabama has until Friday to enact a new map. A federal district court will then review the map to ensure compliance with the Voting Rights Act. If new districts are not enacted by Friday, the court will take over the map-drawing process with a special master.
In Michigan, Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) announced charges against 16 Michigan residents for their role in a false electors plot to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
A hearing was held in Arizona in an appeal of a lawsuit over Cochise County's proposed plan to hand count early ballots. Previously, a judge ruled that the county could not conduct a full hand count audit.
