Terri Sewell is the proud product of Alabama’s rural Black Belt and has spent her life fighting for Alabama communities. From her time as one of the only black public finance lawyers in Alabama, when she delivered financing for new campus facilities at Alabama State University, Tuskegee University, and Stillman College, to her work as Congresswoman for Alabama’s 7th District, Terri Sewell has delivered results every step of the way. BREAKING NEWS:
New Alabama voting map sends Selma and Montgomery to MAGA District

Chip in $10 or any amount right now to protect Alabama’s 7th Congressional District from an extreme MAGA Republican takeover.

I’m outraged. Our hard-won Supreme Court case siding with the Voting Rights Act, siding with fairness and equity, and real representation in government is being ignored by the Republican super majority in the Alabama legislature.

Not only is the state legislature advancing maps that do NOT create a second minority majority voting district in Alabama as it was directed, it is trying to REDUCE the number of Black voters in our home district, leaving my seat vulnerable to an extreme MAGA challenger.

We can’t let that happen, friend. This new map flies in the face of everything the original lawsuit intended. I cannot waste a second if I’m going to fight back at the polls in 2024. Chip in $10 here if you’re on my side>>>

But it’s not just that they are reducing the number of Black voters in our district, it’s HOW they are doing it….

AL New Map
In one map, they’ve moved my hometown of Selma and Montgomery — two beacons of the civil rights movement and the fight to pass the Voting Right Acts of 1965 — to Alabama’s MAGA-controlled, Trumper Second District. It’s horrifying; it’s intentional; and it opens up the only Black-majority district — our district — to a Republican takeover.

Apparently this map didn’t go far enough for some GOP state senators. In another map they passed today, the Black population in the 2nd district is only 38.31%, which is far below what is needed to ensure that Black voters have a real opportunity to elect a candidate of their choice.

We cannot let this stand. That’s why I need your help right now.

Please, donate just $10 or whatever you can to help defend my seat and make sure I have the resources it will take to keep Alabama-07 blue in 2024.
