NRSC-picked Republican, Hung Cao, enters race to challenge Tim Kaine for U.S. Senate seat

Former GOP Congressional candidate Hung Cao has launched his campaign to officially challenge Tim Kaine for Virginia’s U.S. Senate seat.

Cao, who was openly recruited by the GOP’s national Senate fundraising committee, is an anti-choice extremist who said he was “thrilled” that Roe v. Wade was overturned and compared abortion to the Holocaust.

He has also supported Florida Sen. Rick Scott’s plan to put Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security on the chopping block, called for gutting health care protections for 1.3 million Virginians with pre-existing conditions, and expressed sympathy for the January 6th insurrectionists while calling into question the 2020 election results.

Put simply, Hung Cao does not represent the interests of the people of Virginia -- and he cannot be allowed anywhere near the U.S. Senate.

Here’s the problem: Steve Daines, chair of the well-funded National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), has recruited Cao to run against Tim next November. And if he can access the funds, he could have a real shot at winning -- thanks to his national connections.
