This news just broke and I want you to hear it from me: The Republican mayor of Stockton, the biggest city in my district, just announced he is running for my seat.

This is a huge deal. He already has the backing of Kevin McCarthy, who is helping him kick off his campaign with a fundraiser this week.

This will likely be the most serious challenger I’ve ever faced, and with the top Republican in Washington putting all his weight behind him, we’re going to need all hands on deck to keep this seat blue and take back the House.
