Dear John,

You can make a difference in the fight to uphold the rights of the brave men and women in the Armed Forces right now.

This week, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that sets the military's funding and priorities for the next year is at the forefront of Congressional debate. This important annual bill passed the U.S. House late last week in the best form we've seen in years, but it still must pass the Senate -- so you and I have a window of opportunity to raise our voices and call for the radical agendas being pushed on our military to stop!

I served this nation in the greatest military in the world for 36-and-a-half years, but I have never been more distraught than I am today over the woke agenda that has infected our armed forces.

It's one of the reasons I answered the call to join Family Research Council as Executive Vice President over a decade ago, to help turn our nation back to the principles that made America strong.

While China launches aircraft carriers and threatens Taiwan, Iran seizes oil tankers with impunity, and Russia threatens nuclear activity related to their invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. military under President Biden is promoting drag queens and preferred pronoun usage even in the face of a historic decline in recruitment.

For months, the Navy defended the salacious and profane TikTok posts of 2nd Class Petty Officer Joshua Kelly (who dresses as a woman and goes by the stage name "Harpy Daniels") as one of its five "digital ambassadors."

The obscene videos caught the attention of more than a dozen senators who sent a letter to Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro demanding answers over "the promotion of a banned app and behavior that many deem inappropriate in a professional workplace."

It's no wonder military recruitment continues to tank. The Army alone has fallen 25 percent -- 15,000 soldiers short of its recruitment goals!

Congressman Mark Alford (R-Mo.) told Tony Perkins on Washington Watch, "Only nine percent of young people surveyed recently said they had any interest whatsoever in joining the military." Alford warned, "We could possibly be at war with communist China in less than three to five years. We've got to rebuild our military. We've got to bring some sanity back to the Department of Defense."

The historic recruitment shortfall is a direct result of the woke agenda being forced upon our service members and our culture -- one that places radical self-expression above sacrifice.

Now more than ever, we need your voice John in this fight to push back on the agenda that is undermining our military's readiness and national security.

That's why I am asking you to sign the petition to "Return the U.S. Military to Its Foundational Principles" TODAY. FRC will then send your name, along with the names of thousands of other concerned Americans, to the Pentagon.

Serving in our armed forces has always been about something greater than ourselves. It's about patriotism -- the spirit of America -- not our own self-interest.

This principle aligns with the biblical teaching that "greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13).

But what happens when you create a hostile environment for the Christian young men and women who have historically filled the ranks of our military?

They won't enlist!

The latest moves by the military under the Biden administration fit a pattern that many experts see as a steady erosion of religious freedom in the armed forces.

For instance, just before Holy Week, Walter Reed National Military Center issued a "cease and desist" order to a community of Franciscan priests who have been providing pastoral services to service members and their families for almost two decades.

The First Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The brass in charge of this decision should be held accountable for violating the First Amendment.

For four decades, FRC has been working with leaders on Capitol Hill and a coalition of allied groups promoting policies that strengthen our military forces and protect the religious freedom of the brave men and women who courageously fight for our freedoms!

Will you take action today to strengthen our U.S. Military?

If you have already added your name, will you take just a moment to forward my email on to like-minded friends and family so we can reach and mobilize more Americans to push back against the woke agenda infecting our military?

Although I have never been more concerned over the state of our military and its readiness, as a believer in Christ, I have hope!

Francis Scott Key, the author of our national anthem, is attributed with saying, "The patriot who feels himself in the service of God, who acknowledges Him in all his ways, has the promise of Almighty direction, and will find His Word in his greatest darkness."

We need good men and women of conviction in the military and every tier of government -- those who are bold, courageous, and willing to stand for biblical truth.

FRC is positioned in the heart of our nation's capital to provide leadership and biblical worldview resources to support these stalwart warriors who prioritize duty, honor, and country above their own self-interests. And your partnership makes this possible.

Thank you for standing with FRC. Your prayers, petitions, and support will help strengthen our nation's military and champion faith, family, and freedom for future generations.

The Petition to Return the U.S. Military to Its Foundational Principles states:

To Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin:

With the increasing threats to American interests and allies across the globe, I am shocked that the U.S. military seems to be more focused on promoting Pride flags, preferred pronouns, and abortions at taxpayer expense than preparing our armed forces to defend our nation.

This political agenda is contrary to the core principles of duty, honor, and country that made our military the greatest fighting force in the world. It also creates a hostile environment for many men and women of faith, discouraging them from entering or remaining in the armed services. The historic declines in recruitment will only continue to plummet until leadership throughout the Pentagon and the military ranks reject partisan and divisive ideologies.

I urge you to address this ongoing problem and return the focus of the U.S. military to training our brave men and women to fight and win our wars.
