[1]The Long Run PAC

Mandela Barnes' The Long Run is proud to endorse Congresswoman Yadira Caraveo’s campaign for reelection. Dr. Yadira Caraveo is running for reelection in Colorado’s 8th district to continue fighting to combat climate change and protect reproductive freedom. Please read a message from Yadira below and support her campaign:

I wanted to share a little bit about my story, and why I’m in this fight. I hope you’ll take a moment to read this message, but if you’re already with me, will you split a contribution between my reelection campaign and The Long Run and support my advocacy for working-class families in Congress?

Family means everything to me. My parents came to Colorado from a small town in Mexico, looking for a better life. They knew that hard work and caring for others are the values that build strong communities and families. They raised me and my siblings with those values — on a construction worker’s pay in the Adams County home they still live in.

I put myself through undergrad and medical school, becoming the first person in my family to graduate from college. But even before I finished my medical training, advocacy became an important part of my life. I helped organize my fellow medical residents for better working conditions, and became a union representative with SEIU.

I chose to be a pediatrician in Adams County to give back to my community – to the folks that raised me. But I quickly understood that truly helping children required a lot more than what I was able to do as a doctor.

That’s why I ran for the state legislature. In that time, I worked to pass legislation to force drug companies to lower the cost of prescriptions, expand funding for preschool, ensure all Coloradans have access to paid family leave and sick days, and protect renters from eviction during the pandemic.

And that’s why I ran for Congress in 2022. The pollsters said I had a 4% shot of winning this race. Thanks to this grassroots movement, we defied the odds and elected the first Latina from Colorado to Congress.

I promise you that I will continue my commitment to the families I see every day in Colorado. I will build on my work to lower health care costs, address the high cost of living, and protect a woman’s right to choose. I’m ready to continue advocating for you and Coloradans in Congress, but I can’t beat the far-right or get there alone. So please, will you split a contribution between my congressional campaign and The Long Run today?
