GGWash supporters at Solace Brewing in June
Hello friend,
At least a couple of times every month, we host meet-ups around the region. We’ve gotten it down to a science, right down to the “go bag” stuffed with nametags, signs, markers, and other supplies that I grab from the office.
We love seeing you, but that’s not the only – or even, really, the main – reason that we spend hours each month planning these meet-ups. At the core, it’s about the fact that change starts with people working together .
Whether we’re trying to change zoning codes so more housing can be built, or get new protected bike lanes installed, or make bus service more reliable, we’re better advocates when we work together.
That’s why GGWash creates spaces where we can meet each other, trade ideas, and hatch plans.
One of my favorite GGWash articles from this year is Matthew Holden and Richard Stirba’s analysis of cycling patterns in the Q Street/R Street corridor in Northwest DC, arguing for an east-west protected bike lane. The data analysis - the detail! It came into being after Matthew and Richard connected at one of our “Ward 1.5” meet-ups.
We want to create more of these moments and we need your help to make it happen. If you’re not already part of the GGWash Neighborhood [[link removed]] , our recurring donors program, would you consider joining?

We need to welcome 65 new Neighbors by the end of August. Most Neighbors contribute $10 per month or $120 per year. These flexible contributions are absolutely critical to helping us do important work that isn’t necessarily covered by grants.
Every bit of support adds up. Organizing one meet-up, for example, costs us about $650 in staff time. If 65 new Neighbors give $10 a month, that’s equal to the cost of running our rotating monthly regional meet-up program – it’s a big deal!
Being able to create space for folks to connect and share ideas is truly the best part of my job. Help us make more of these spaces possible by joining our Neighborhood today [[link removed]] .

P.S. Want to get in on the action? We are hosting out next meet-up on Wednesday, July 26th at this super cool small business incubator in Congress Heights. Come check it out with us! [[link removed]]
