Team,
Many Michigan communities had one of their warmest winters this past season and this summer, many Michiganders are experiencing record-high temperatures. In June, several schools in Grand Rapids and Detroit had to close early due to high temperatures. We’re seeing the same trends across the country and the world.
Our climate is rapidly changing, but we have the science, facts, and information we need to respond. We need to act fast. We are simply running out of time to respond to the threat of climate change.
I authored the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to do just that. The GGRF is a historic program that will help our nation attack the climate crisis head-on by providing funding for grants that will move us toward an equitable clean-energy economy.
Just last week, the Environmental Protection Agency announced two pollution-reducing and clean energy projects funded by the GGRF. These projects — and other investments made through the GGRF — will accelerate our nation’s clean energy economy and help us tackle the climate crisis.
I am also a sponsor of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, a bill I have introduced every session since I was elected, to provide critical funding for habitat restoration and conservation projects nationwide, and a vocal fighter for legislation to help efforts to clean up “forever” PFAS chemicals and limit their use in our daily lives.
Will you stand with me today and make a contribution to fuel my work as I continue to push for solutions that reduce our nation’s carbon emissions and restore our climate while creating good-paying jobs and bringing energy costs down? It’s going to take all of us to tackle the climate crisis head-on. [[link removed]]
