*Detroit casinos report $101.5M in June revenue*
DETROIT, July 18, 2023 ? The three Detroit casinos reported $101.5 million in monthly aggregate revenue for the month of June 2023, of which $101.9 million was generated from table games and slots. Retail sports betting yielded a negative $395,606, in large part due to a patron successfully winning $972,000 at MotorCity Casino on June 18.
The June market shares were:
* MGM, 46%
* MotorCity, 32%
* Hollywood Casino at Greektown, 22%
*Table Games and Slot Revenue and Taxes
*June table games and slot revenue increased 3.8% when compared to June 2022 results. June monthly revenue dropped 2.7% compared to May revenue. Through June 30, the casinos? table games and slots revenue increased by 0.9% compared to the same period last year.
The casinos? monthly gaming revenue results were mixed compared to June 2022:
* Hollywood Casino at Greektown, up 36.8% to $22.4 million
* MGM, down 2.7% to $47.0 million
* MotorCity, down 3.0% to $32.5 million
During June, the three Detroit casinos paid $8.3 million in taxes to the State of Michigan. They paid $8.0 million for the same month last year.
The casinos reported submitting $12.1 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit in June.
*Retail Sports Betting Revenue and Taxes
*The three Detroit casinos reported $8.1 million in total retail sports betting handle, and total gross receipts yielded a negative $378,641.
Retail sports betting qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) were down by $1.3 million compared to May 2023. June QAGR was down $844,308 compared to the same month last year.
June QAGR by casino was:
* MGM, $30,010
* MotorCity, negative ($708,625)
* Hollywood Casino at Greektown, $283,009
During June, the casinos paid $11,832 in taxes to the state and reported submitting $14,462 in taxes to the City of Detroit based on retail sports betting revenue.
*Fantasy Contests
*For May, fantasy contest operators reported total adjusted revenues of $1.9 million and paid taxes of $155,539.
From January 1 through May 31, fantasy contest operators reported $10.8 million in aggregate fantasy contest adjusted revenues and paid $903,369 in taxes.
