Dear John,
The U.S. Supreme Court recently ended an eventful Term with a series of decisions that may have a profound impact on the nation. It is clear that the Court is in the spotlight: thousands of people joined us at this year’s Supreme Court Review, presented in partnership with the National Constitution Center, as our experts provided a lively and in-depth look at those decisions. We’d like to share a quick overview, as well as the

We are grateful to the eminent legal scholars and analysts who took part — Erwin Chemerinsky, Miguel Estrada, Dahlia Lithwick, Gregory Garre, Frederick Lawrence and our moderator Amy Howe — for their perceptive examination of the Supreme Court’s recent major decisions.
The speakers, most of whom have argued cases before the Supreme Court, engaged in a deep analysis of the key majority opinions and dissents of a controversial Term.
As our panel noted, most of the Court’s noteworthy actions were seen as wins for conservatives, including a 6-3 decision that sharply curtailed affirmative action in college admissions and another that determined that a website designer’s free speech claim should prevail in a case involving discrimination against same-sex couples. However, there were a few cases where the conservative position did not prevail, including rulings about gerrymandering and the Voting Rights Act.
