Actions for the week of July 17, 2023

Calling all activists! Hopefully everyone is staying cool and hydrated. Here is our monthly round up of actions to take this week to combat climate change.

Action 1

🌑🚰 Choose a Cause

Inside the Movement has a great action toolkit page on their site that is updated regularly! Choose from a plethora of petitions fighting for indigenous rights, land protections, climate friendly legislation and more. 🌍

Action 2

πŸ–πŸ“ Calling NYC Families: Choose Kids Not Fossil Fuels!

Citi is the second biggest fossil fuel funding bank on Earth and the top U.S. funder of coal. Over the next month, Climate Families NYC are collecting letters and drawings addressed to Citi’s leadership from kids and caregivers. Invite your child or collaborate together to write or draw a card with a message for Citi bank to stop funding fossil fuel infrastructure! πŸ™…β€β™€οΈπŸ›’

Action 3

πŸ₯‘🐒 Write Your Council Member: Choose to Reuse

The Choose to Reuse bill would require corporate-owned fast casual food service establishments in NYC to offer consumers the option to request reusable food packaging and participate in a system for the return of the food packaging. The legislation would also mandate that certain establishments provide reusable utensils and containers for dine-in customers. The bill is the first of its kind in the U.S. and would represent the most significant legislation to reduce single-use packaging in the U.S. to date. Call on your City Council Member to support reuse and make the world a bit less trashy! 🍽
