🚨 GOP attaches right-wing goals to the Defense Bill🚨

Senator Tom Cotton on Fox News Sunday made the decision to call women and LGBTQ+ servicemembers seeking an abortion "abortion tourism." This comes as the Senate is expected to receive a version of the Defense bill that is full of right-wing goals like stripping away access to reproductive services and healthcare for members of the LGBTQ+ community in the military.
The GOP is critical of the Biden administration's expansion of abortion access for military members who are stationed in states where the procedure is no longer available to them...which wouldn't be an issue if the conservative majority on the Supreme Court had not overturned Roe v. Wade. Not only is this a despicable comment, with the condescending nature of GOP politicians painting abortion as a vacation for women, but it also speaks to their inability to understand the reality of the experiences of women and LGTBQ+ servicemembers.
According to RAND: "Service members who identify as [LGBTQ+] represented only 12 percent of the active component population in 2018, but accounted for approximately 43 percent of all sexually assaulted service members in that year," and
"The 77 percent of women who identify as heterosexual only accounted for 60 percent of all women who were sexually assaulted over a one-year period, while the remaining 23 percent of women who did not indicate a heterosexual orientation accounted for 40 percent of all women who were sexually assaulted."
John, this is the kind of rhetoric that the radical right will push to see that more of our rights and freedoms are taken away. Help us fight back.
