Action Alert: Ask your MP to attend meeting on palliative care
17 February 2020
Dear SPUC supporter,
Palliative care not assisted suicide
Many thanks to all who have contacted their MP to ask him/her to attend this important meeting. Although there appears to be no immediate threat that assisted suicide will be legalised, there are many media stories appearing which promote this. We need to make sure that MPs are fully prepared to defeat any measures.
If you have not done so already, please would you contact your MP and ask him/her to attend this meeting in the House of Commons:
Date: Tuesday 25 February 2020
Time: 5pm – 7pm
Place: Room T, Portcullis House, Houses of Parliament
Palliative care doctor Dominic Whitehouse will be speaking about caring for dying patients and why assisted suicide should not be legalised.
A change in the law to make assisted suicide legal is a real and growing threat. Every MP must hear the case against assisted suicide. Whether your MP is in favour of assisted suicide, is opposed to it or has yet to express a voting intention on this vital matter, please email your MP straight away.
Dr Whitehouse will give a presentation 5.30pm – 6 pm. MPs can also drop in at any time between 5pm-7pm to speak to Dr Whitehouse and to pick up SPUC’s 2020 briefing for MPs on why assisted suicide should not be legalised.
You can see a short video in which Dr Whitehouse sets out why we should not legalise assisted suicide.
Please forward this video to your MP.
Your MP represents you. Stopping assisted suicide matters to you. Make sure your MP is there on 25 February.
With every good wish,
Alithea Williams
