Breaking news, folks:

The special legislative session for redistricting in Alabama just kicked off today, and conservative state lawmakers already advanced a congressional map that does NOT include a second majority-Black district that the Supreme Court required be in Alabama’s new map.

Here’s why this matters: The new congressional map being decided during this session will lay the foundation for the next decade of elections, folks, and the deadline to submit the new map is this Friday.

Alabama Republicans are clearly trying to delay our democratic process and undermine Black Alabamians by ignoring the Supreme Court requirements, which is why we’re taking action: Rush a $10 donation now so that our grantees can do everything they can between now and Friday to ensure these new congressional districts are drawn fairly.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Things are moving fast, and our grantees in Alabama are on the frontlines demanding a more transparent and representative democracy.

Thank you for your help. We’ll keep you posted.

Joe
