Dear NCRC members and allies,
As we celebrate Presidents Day, we pause to reflect on its complete history. The founders of our nation were not mythical heroes. In some ways they established a revolutionary new government for the times, but our country was still built by the hands of Black slaves, on land stolen from Native Americans.
The discrimination we see today is the lingering racism hardcoded into our nation’s foundation. This is not something that can be fixed overnight. We are struggling to right centuries of wrongs. But we can’t afford to sit and wait for someone else to save our communities.
