Escaped Murder Suspect Apprehended, Arraigned on 2011 Homicide Charges

*LANSING* – After being transported from Montana to Michigan, Chadwick Shane Mobley, 42, was arraigned today in Lapeer County in 71-A District Court before Magistrate Michael C. Delling on murder and felony firearm charges, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced.

The charges against Mobley stem from his connection to the murder of Andrea Eilber [ [link removed] ], who was shot at a relative’s home in Lapeer County. Evidence found at the scene was tested for DNA during the immediate investigation, and again in 2022 in a renewed effort that positively identified Mobley, who resided in the state of Utah by then. Mobley fled the state shortly after questioning by Michigan State Police and was apprehended by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department in Libby, Montana.

While being transported from Montana to Michigan for arraignment, Mobley escaped the custody of Prisoner Transport Services, LLC [ [link removed] ], a private transport company. Through the coordination of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshall’s Service, the Sanders Country Sheriff’s Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Mobley was once again apprehended and returned to Michigan.

Mobely is being charged with:

* One count, First Degree Murder, a felony that carries a life sentence without the possibility of parole;
* One count, Felony Murder, a felony that carries a life sentence without the possibility of parole; and,
* One count, Felony Firearm, a two-year felony.

Mobley’s Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 28, 2023, at 9 a.m. before Judge Laura Barnard.

*"Please note"*":"" A criminal charge is merely an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The Department does not provide booking photos."
