160,000 SAG-AFTRA members strike
|
For the first time in over 60 years, 160,000 actors with SAG-AFTRA joined 11,000 writers on strike last Friday, July 14. Disney CEO Bob Iger called the strike "disturbing" while at a billionaire retreat. Iger is set to take home $27 million in 2023 as many working actors, writers, and crews struggle to make ends meet.

United Auto Workers are strike ready!

In a historic buck to tradition, newly-elected UAW President Shawn Fain kicked off negotiations with The Big Three (GM, Stellantis, Ford) with a "member handshake":

"... there won't be no public handshake ceremony with the companies. I'm not shaking hands with any CEOs until they do right by our members."

The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association has authorized a strike
|
"Southwest Airlines Co (LUV.N) pilots' union said on Thursday its members had approved a strike mandate by an overwhelming majority ahead of the busy summer travel season.
The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA), which represents 10,000 pilots of the Dallas-based carrier, said 98% of its members participated in the vote and 99% voted in favor of authorizing a strike."

Amazon Teamsters' Rolling Pickets Hit Facilities Nationwide

"Brandi Diaz was at a customer’s door in Palmdale, California, delivering stuff for Amazon, when the customer asked her, “What’s the difference between you and UPS drivers?”
“He said the difference is UPS is union, Amazon is not. He referred to us as ‘Jeff’s Bozos.’
“I am no longer Bezos’ Bozo!” Diaz said over honks and chants from 200 Teamsters from six different locals and some labor allies at a picket line outside an Amazon warehouse in northern New Jersey July 6." Read more.
