John,

You might have seen over the weekend that the Government’s signed us up to the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

It might not have made huge splashes across the headlines, but it’s notable for three important reasons:

- The agreement forces us to completely remove tariffs on palm-oil imports that cause deforestation and threaten wildlife including critically endangered orangutangs

- The Government’s own figures say this deal will only grow GDP by 0.08%

- Despite living in a Parliamentary democracy, your MP will have no say on any of this

This isn’t good enough, and we need our MPs to stand up for their right to scrutinise it:

<[link removed]>Tell my MP - this needs more scrutiny! <[link removed]>

Best for Britain is drawing attention to the damage that will be caused by the rushed deals that this Government is striking to make Brexit look like a success and campaigning for better.

The UK Trade and Business Commission’s recent list of recommendations <[link removed]> from trade leaders and experts made it clear that Parliamentary scrutiny of future trade deals is imperative to ensure the Government acts in the interests of the people and businesses it serves.

We shouldn’t give up our world-leading environmental standards for pocket-change; will you take two minutes to tell your MP you want them to have more of a say before deals like this go through?

Best wishes,
