John, we’ve got
to talk about Moms for Liberty.
Born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, this group first gained attention for
manipulating misinformation to drive outrage over mask mandates and other
safety measures in schools. Since then, their influence and power has
grown immensely while the mainstream media has downplayed their actions
and painted them as ‘concerned parents.’
Our local newsrooms are picking up the mainstream media’s slack, shining a
bright spotlight on Moms for Liberty’s nefarious agenda and exposing them
for what they truly are: an extremist group.^1

resources to keep up with them so they can debunk their misinformation in
real time. Will you chip in $5 to support their work?
Moms for Liberty has spread dangerous lies and misinformation about
teachers, students, and schools that have divided our communities. They’ve
led campaigns banning books, targeting LGBTQ+ students, and ending
inclusive school curricula.
They’ve also endorsed over 500 school board candidates, working to have
influence in all 13,000 school districts in the United States.
The mainstream media has repeatedly failed to capture the seriousness of
what Moms for Liberty is doing — but our newsrooms haven’t. In
Pennsylvania, our reporters at The Keystone provided in-depth coverage of
the group’s recent conference in Philadelphia.
They gave readers a peek behind the curtain at the range of right-wing
groups who were actually sponsoring the event. They also highlighted the
work of local community members who fought back against the group’s
extreme agenda by hosting a Banned Book Giveaway:
