Defending our Armed Forces

This week, the House passed the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to support the men and women who protect our nation. The FY24 NDAA will make America safer, give our men and women in uniform the resources they deserve, and send a clear message to our adversaries around the globe. As we face growing threats from China, Iran, Russia, North Korea, and other bad actors, Congress must invest in our Armed Forces and strengthen our national security. The NDAA makes certain that our military personnel are prepared with the resources, equipment, and support at home they need. It is a privilege to continue to support our brave men and women protecting and defending freedom and I was proud to support this bill.

Advocating for a more accountable TANF program

National headlines, fueled by a massive embezzlement scandal in Mississippi, have drawn increased scrutiny about TANF - leaving people to ask: Where is all the welfare money going? This week, I chaired a Ways and Means Subcommittee on Work and Welfare hearing about creating a more accountable TANF program that helps get individuals back into the workforce.

Supporting Illinois farmers and agriculture

IL16 is one of the largest ag producing districts in the country. I visited with the Illinois Farm Bureau
during their visit to DC this week to discuss the 2023 Farm Bill, enhancement of crop insurance, biofuels, and trade.
