NDAA House Passage
On Friday, the House passed the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA sets Department of Defense (DOD) policies and authorizes funding levels for defense programs.
The bipartisan FY24 NDAA is critical for our nation’s defense and for supporting our service personnel, military retirees, military installations, and defense industry in Georgia. House passage of this legislation also furthers my effort to prevent DOD funds from purchasing and using technology produced by our adversaries.
Throughout the lengthy process of crafting the FY24 NDAA, I had 46 bill and directive report language amendments included in the bill and accompanying report.
I will always stand in support of our nation's military.

Meeting with the Ambassador of Georgia
Last week, I had the privilege of meeting with Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador David Zalkaliani.
Our Georgia National Guard has maintained a strong cooperation with the armed services of the country of Georgia since 1994 through the National Guard’s State Partnership Program. We had an informative discussion about military-to-military cooperation between the Armed Forces of the nation of Georgia and the Georgia National Guard while Russia continues its illegal war in Ukraine.
We also discussed strengthening the strategic partnership between the country of Georgia and the United States regarding defense and security as well as economy and trade and called attention to the cruciality of the Black Sea security.
I appreciate Ambassador Zalkaliani’s unwavering support of this strategic partnership.
Restoring Election Integrity
In Georgia, we know that passing strong election laws encourages integrity by making it easier to vote and harder to cheat. Last week, I originally cosponsored the American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act, which restores election integrity, voter confidence, and faith in our electoral process.
This legislation gives state and county election officials access to the Social Security death list to maintain their voter rolls, makes it easier for states to use REAL ID to confirm citizenship, prohibits federal funds from going to places that allow non-citizens to vote, and stops non-citizens from voting in D.C.
It also supports military voters overseas and ensures their ballots are counted in time, and protects free speech and donor privacy.
By equipping states with the necessary resources for elections and enhancing election security, we will restore a fair and transparent electoral process.
