Iowa just passed a law that bans most abortions after six weeks — a cutoff before most patients even realize they are pregnant.
Iowa’s Republican Attorney General, Brenna Bird, has been championing this abortion ban, even arguing before the Iowa Supreme Court that they should uphold a similar 2018 “heartbeat” law.
Earlier this year, she also halted the program that provided emergency contraceptives for victims of rape.
