Friends,
While the Fourth of July is meant to be a time for celebrating our great nation, the sad truth is this year’s Independence Day served as a reminder of how much is wrong with our society.

15 people were killed and 94 others were injured in a wave of horrific mass shootings across the country on the Fourth this year, demonstrating just how much our country’s flawed approach to guns is failing to keep our communities safe.
We can’t let this keep happening, friends. That’s why I voted to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, and it’s why I have taken directly to the House floor repeatedly this year to call on Republicans to support commonsense gun safety reforms such as banning assault weapons, outlawing high capacity magazines, and finally requiring background checks on every firearm purchase.
The overwhelming majority of Americans support reasonable solutions like these, but extremist Republicans in Washington refuse to act to bring an end to the scourge of gun violence. That’s why I asked my team to put together a petition calling for Congress to do what needs to be done and pass the policies we need to ensure Americans can feel safe in their own communities again.
Will you add your name and demand that Congress build on the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and pass commonsense gun safety legislation? [[link removed]]
