1) Amazing School Choice Success Story In NY
We just love, ❤️, love this story – and you will too.

Our friend Eva Moscowitz - who runs charter schools in New York called Success Academy - reports these stellar results on the NY State Regents test. The 800 eighth graders, 92% of whom are minorities, passed with flying colors.

Eva: “Most excited about Algebra, which our kids take in 8th grade rather than in 10th grade. More than 98% of our scholars passed … across 13 middle schools … with about half (!) getting the highest score of 5. This means they can take advanced courses in high school that will genuinely prepare them for college-level work and the careers that follow.”

Here’s what is even more astonishing:

Charters like Success received roughly $18,000 in per-pupil funding last year. The district spends $38,000 per pupil on failing public schools.

In other words, Success provides a much better education at HALF the cost of the NY public schools.

In a rational world where black lives really matter, New York City would just get rid of teacher unions and contract out its entire public education system to Success Academies.

2) Is FTC Chairwoman Lina Khan the Most Abusive Federal Regulator EVER?
We are sorry if we are sounding like a broken record, but Lina Khan is a one-woman wrecking crew.

She’s lost nearly every case she’s brought against American businesses, while forcing companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Illumina to waste tens of millions of dollars in legal and lobbying fees to fend off her sophomoric 19th-century legal theories of monopoly. She traitorously conspires with foreign regulators to encourage competitor nations to tie American businesses into legal knots. U.S. companies should ask the courts for a restraining order against Khan for continuous harassment.

And now two more cases of malicious intervention against ChatGPT and Twitter – both reported just in the last 48 hours:

And then this extortionary tactic from the FTC that comes right out of the playbook of the mob:

Republicans should tell Biden that they will zero out funding for the FTC as long as Khan remains chair. This woman needs to go back to teaching her quack legal theories at some second-rate law school – where she belongs.

3) The Richest 1% Pay More Income Taxes Than the Bottom 95%!
Biden keeps saying the most-inane things about how much taxes the rich pay. He claims that millionaires and billionaires pay a lower tax than a school teacher or a firefighter.” He says repeatedly that the rich pay tax rates of anywhere between 3 and 8% (sic). He wants new millionaire and billionaire taxes to level the playing field.

Well, maybe his millionaire son Hunter has found a way to pay a 3% tax rate, but the latest IRS statistics tell an entirely different story. The richest one out of 100 Americans now pay more in federal income taxes than the bottom 95 out of 100. There is almost no country in the world that relies on the top 1% to pay a larger share of the tax burden than the United States. Notice that the tax share of the top 1% went UP after the Trump tax cuts.

4) In Canada Government-Run Healthcare Means Waiting 15 Weeks To See a Doctor
Later this year, both New York and California will debate starting their own single-payer health care program.

Canada has already tried that for the last 50 years and we should look North for the results.

The Fraser Institute reports that last year Canadians waited an average of 14.8 weeks to receive treatment after seeing a specialist. This wait time was the longest in over 30 years and gets worse every year.

The 14.8-week wait between seeing a specialist to final treatment is much longer than what surveyed physicians consider reasonable (8 weeks). Delaying treatment can allow physical illness to accelerate, worsening patient health to the point of disability and even death. Not to mention the economic losses in foregone wages and productivity.

But progressives in New York and California plan to plow ahead with single-payer, touting the claim that health care will be free and available to all. All of this recalls one of our favorite quotes from the late, great humorist P.J O’Rourke: “If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free.”

5) Spanish Ecology Minister Rides Her Bicycle PR Stunt Into a Buzzsaw
Spain’s socialist government faces voters on July 23, and polls show it will lose to the conservative opposition. One reason is the reputation many of its ministers have of being hypocritical elitists or “champagne socialists."

New evidence of that surfaced just this week as Teresa Ribera, a deputy prime minister of Spain and its “Minister For The Ecological Transition” was discovered to have used a private jet to attend a climate conference. After landing, she rode in her limo to a point 100 yards from the meeting space and then got out and rode a bicycle. Two hulking armored security cars followed her.

[link removed]
The hypocrisy of this particular PR stunt was so egregious that Ribera has become a laughingstock in Spanish media.

Who does she think she is? Pete Buttigieg?
