Dear John,

It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting
for our conservative values.

Yesterday, the House voted on the National Defense Authorization Act for
fiscal year 2024 (FY24 NDAA) that provides critical amendments to our military
and defense budget, like cutting funds for Critical Race Theory and drag shows.
Our military deserves top-tier resources and equipment, make no mistake about
it. But draining taxpayer dollars for inefficient defense programs, obsolete
weapons systems, and unnecessary government bureaucracy in the name of national
defense is something I cannot support. The FY24 NDAA would cut $40 billion
worth of these wasteful appendages while also providing a path of support to
the 8,000 service members who were discharged for failing to take the COVID-19
vaccination. Additionally, it lays a critical foundation to audit, direct, and
vet all U.S. aid to Ukraine.

I had the pleasure of hosting a House Ways and Means Committee hearing in the
Seventh District town of Kimball, where we discussed trade and agriculture
markets. Our communities are the heart of America’s supply chains, with
Minnesota ranking among the top five agriculture exporters in the country. We
should always be looking to leverage our vast natural resources and fertile
land and push for a more aggressive trade agenda. Minnesota is well-positioned
to build our future with what lies below our feet.

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai needs to enforce the existing trade
deals. Mexico’s ban on biotech corn imports and Canada’s restrictive dairy
policies are not in line with the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement
(USMCA). All three countries put pen to paper and agreed to the deal; if one or
more doesn’t comply, we need our designated representative to get tough and
enforce it.

As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with.
Thank you for your continued support!

With gratitude,
