John,
Washington is facing a housing crisis, and we need urgent solutions at-scale to meet the shortage. It’s one of the primary reasons I am running for Governor.
As Public Lands Commissioner, I decided that this crisis called for an all-hands-on-deck approach from my agency. So for the first time in our agency’s history, we started to build affordable housing on public land. It’s not an issue my agency traditionally worked on, but that didn’t stop me.
So not only did we start building affordable housing on public land from Seattle to Spokane, but we just transferred land in Silverdale, my agency owned, to Kitsap County, so the county can start building affordable housing on it. Because this crisis isn’t just a crisis in our biggest cities – it’s a crisis in every corner of our state.
When I become governor, I plan to bring the same urgency and strategic creativity to the housing crisis. We can’t wait for stalled programs and stale ideas to solve this pressing crisis. We need someone willing to pull out all the stops and put the people of Washington first.
If you believe we need a leader ready to get creative and do whatever it takes to solve the housing crisis, I hope you will join our grassroots network today. With your contribution, we can run a campaign that can win in every corner of Washington and finally get to work to address the housing crisis.
