At an Energy and Commerce Committee hearing, I debated my Democrat colleagues on prohibiting program funding to children’s hospitals that provide “gender affirming care," and in a separate hearing I once again spoke on protecting Americans' way of life from Biden's extreme EPA.

Crenshaw Slams Dems Advocating For Gender Transition On Minors

Yesterday at the Energy and Commerce Committee I was called “cruel” for wanting to prohibit funding to children’s hospitals that do pseudo-scientific “gender affirming care.” But I stand by it: if a hospital chooses to allow dangerous, permanent physiological changes to children under their care, then taxpayers will no longer be funding their programs. It was nice to engage in a serious debate with some of my colleagues, but unfortunately many of their arguments resorted to sloganeering and ignorance of the actual science. I debunked every “study” they cited. “Gender-affirming care” for minors is not compassionate and it’s not based on any evidentiary standards – it’s simply pseudoscientific activism parading as healthcare. There are serious, life-long consequences involved with “transitioning” a child who is gender confused. As leaders, doctors, and parents — we have a duty to abide by the “do no harm” principle and protect our kids from this rush to embrace a radical and dangerous trend.

 

People In Politics Use Outrage As Currency

Outrage is weakness. And it usually means that someone lacks the intellectual arguments to make their case. Most of the time, outrage over a political issue is making up for a person’s lack of understanding of said issue. Emotion fills the knowledge gaps. Even if your feelings on an issue are fully justified, it doesn’t mean that outrage will be a useful tool for enacting change on that issue. No one gets persuaded by being yelled at. Even still, many people in politics have decided that open displays of outrage are the only currency that matters. Maybe that’s true when it comes to fundraising or getting attention from people who already agree with you, but what does it accomplish in the long run, where persuasion is the key to winning? Very little.

 

One Electric Car Battery = 500,000 LBS Of Earth

ONE ELECTRIC CAR BATTERY = 500,000 LBS OF EARTH. Next time you debate a radical environmentalist, remember what energy physicist and @manhattaninstitute ‘s Mark Mills has to say about the sheer volume of earth that must be dug up and processed to create a single electric car battery. The stats are simple enough to remember and should alarm anyone who genuinely cares about the environment. For the irreplaceable copper components, miners dig 10,000 lbs of earth to get 2,000 lbs of copper ore which is then processed down to 20 lbs of copper. And that 20 lbs of copper is just one of many minerals and metals that go into a single electric car battery. All of this takes huge earth moving machines and ore processing facilities that are usually powered by burning coal or oil. A Volvo study showed that the carbon emissions from manufacturing a single electric car battery is equivalent to driving a gasoline powered car for almost 70,000 miles. Driving an electric car feels green, but that’s only because all the carbon emissions are front-loaded in the manufacturing process. Gridlock Is A xxxxxx Of Freedom

I hear it all the time… “why can’t Congress just get things done? Why can’t the government just do something?” Let’s take a second to look at why gridlock actually represents functionality & freedom. 435 Members of Congress make up the U.S. House of Representatives, spanning across all 50 states. Each Member comes from different walks of life, a different upbringing, and have vastly different life experiences. This is a massive part of what makes our government effective and unique, but naturally, these 435 Members WILL have different opinions on what should be done, and how it should be done — that’s just human nature. The whole point of our republic is to have debates based on our different beliefs and experiences to find the best solution to a problem, to be slow and thoughtful in our decision-making, and to have the freedom to have these fights without actually resorting to violence (which, by the way, is basically what happened throughout human history.) That’s why checks and balances exist, and that’s the entire premise of limited government — if we want the government to do something, we better make sure it’s for a good reason.

 

The EPA Is Lying To You. These Are The Real Costs of Electric Vehicles:

As policymakers it’s our job to weigh the cost and benefit of every decision we make. We must always ask: is the cost of a particular policy worth the supposed benefit? Unsurprisingly, Biden’s radical Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) never takes this into consideration. Right now the EPA is proposing new tail-pipe emissions standards that would make gasoline-powered cars more expensive for Americans in an attempt to force unaffordable electric vehicles onto consumers. The price of EVs have risen by 50% in the last decade, costing an average of $20,000 more than similarly sized gas-powered vehicles. What’s even more ridiculous is that studies conducted by Volvo and Volkswagen - the companies making these EVs - found that manufacturing an EV produces 70% MORE emissions than gas-powered cars when you account for how EVs are manufactured. Why? Because polluters like China produce the vast majority of the materials needed to make these “clean” EVs. So why is the EPA pressing for the switch to EVs? Well, the intended “benefit” of this rule is to improve air quality by forcing gas-powered cars off the market. But even the EPA’s own website admits that our air quality is improving due to greater efficiencies in internal combustion engines (gas-powered engines in cars, boats, ships, airplanes, and trains) and the broader transition to natural gas. The bottom line is clear: The EPA is attempting to impose enormous costs on Americans without any clear benefit and very obvious negative impacts to our economy and, ironically, the environment.

 

How Politicians Manipulate Climate Science To Create Fear

The latest episode of Hold These Truths takes a hard look at the current state of climate science and how it’s manipulated by politicians to pass Green New Deal policies. What's happening isn't real science and it certainly isn't good policy. It's cherry picking climate data to present the most apocalyptic scenarios and scaring citizens into believing the world is going to end. Then they promise salvation if only we ban all the nice things that have allowed civilization to innovate and prosper. Scientists have an obligation to collect, examine, and interpret data without any biases. That’s the foundation of good science. Politicians have an obligation to consider the science when they’re crafting policies. We use it to consider the tradeoffs of every decision we make, but our ultimate goal is to maximize human flourishing. What Would The Founders Think Of Us Today

The American ethos was stated beautifully in our Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…” The Constitution tells us how we govern, but the Declaration of Independence told us why we govern - to secure inalienable rights and freedoms. Some think the government exists to make you happier (usually by giving you something it took from someone else). But the government doesn’t give you happiness, it gives you the freedom to pursue it. That’s what the Founding Fathers envisioned, and that’s what conservatives and constitutionalists fight for everyday. You are free to pursue your own path to prosperity — not a predetermined one chosen by your government.

Washington Examiner: Crenshaw and AOC expect to pass bill funding psychedelic clinical studies for PTSD

Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said Thursday they expect their bipartisan legislation to create a pathway for clinical studies for psychedelic drugs to treat post-traumatic stress disorder to pass the House in a floor vote on Friday.
