Hello John,

The governor general could have bought a BMW, driven it around Iceland for a few days and then ditched it at the airport… and that STILL would have cost you less money.

It’s hard to believe.

But check out this headline on the front page of the National Post this morning: “Governor General expensed $71,000 in limo fees for four-day Iceland trip in 2022.”

Our investigative reporter dug up this story and you can read the whole thing by clicking this link:
https://nationalpost.com/news/71k-in-limo-service-for-governor-generals-2022-four-day-iceland-trip

Governor General Mary Simon spent four days at a conference in Iceland. Her hotel was only 500 yards from the conference. Yet her delegation spent more than $71,000 on a luxury limousine service.

And there’s a pattern of waste at the governor general’s office.

Your investigative journalist at the Canadian Taxpayers Federation caught the governor general spending about $100,000 on airplane food during a trip to the Middle East. And we dug up documents showing governors general get $200,000 per year expense accounts, for life, even after leaving office. The list goes on forever.

You know the culture of waste in Ottawa needs to change and that starts right at the top with the governor general.

Hundreds of thousands of taxpayers like you are signing the petition demanding an end to the outrageous perks for the governor general.

You can sign the PETITION to end governor general perks by clicking this link:

We’re hearing from members of Parliament from multiple parties that they’re determined to cut the governor general’s budget. You need to keep pushing hard. We can make a difference together.

Thanks for standing up for taxpayers.
