NASN Releases New
National Platform for Data
NASN has a new platform for school nurses to submit their data directly into the system. The 2019-20 survey adds Chronic Absenteeism to the previously collected metrics of school health staffing, chronic diseases, and health office disposition. Be sure to follow your state laws and district policies related to data sharing.

Health Risks and Outcomes of Homelessness in School-Age Children and Youth
Over 1.35 million children and youth (ages 5-18) were identified as homeless during the 2016-2017 school year. JOSN's February edition offers a review of the literature identifying studies of the physical, mental, and behavioral health risks and outcomes of school-age children experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

As part of American Heart Month, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute offers some tips to keep your heart health. It’s easy to fall into sedentary habits. Make sure to move more throughout the day. Take the stairs. Park farther away. Get up from your seat and visit your coworker instead of e-mailing.
