We already knew that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was secretly taking payments from billionaire Republican mega-donors, in a flagrant abuse of power.
But it keeps getting worse.
Just this week, the Guardian reported that multiple lawyers with cases before the Supreme Court sent payments by Venmo to Clarence Thomas’s aide.1 One of the lawyers argued against affirmative action, which Thomas just voted to strike down.
No wonder public trust in the Supreme Court is at an all-time low. Justices like Clarence Thomas are doing the bidding of far-right extremists at the expense of the American people, undermining our democracy while taking away our rights.

For years, Justice Clarence Thomas failed to recuse himself when he faced clear conflicts of interest based on his wife’s work. Here are just a few examples:

Clarence Thomas voted for the Muslim ban while his wife worked for an organization supporting the ban.

He voted against holding Trump accountable for the Jan 6th insurrection, after his wife actively advocated to overturn 2020’s election results (including directly pushing Trump’s Chief of Staff).

He voted against the Affordable Care Act while his wife was paid to lobby for its repeal.

He voted to stop vote recounts in the 2000 presidential election while his wife was working with George W. Bush’s transition team.
These are just some of the ways Justice Clarence Thomas has abused his power on the nation’s highest court to harm our communities.
