Afghan Adjustment Act reintroduced in Congress.
John,
Today, Congress announced the reintroduction of the Afghan Adjustment Act -- a bill that would provide a permanent pathway to citizenship for our Afghan allies and expand the efforts to protect those left behind.
America made a promise to Afghans who fought alongside our troops and put their life on the line, and we owe it to them to keep our word. We’re happy to see Congress take a much-needed step to fulfill this promise, but we cannot let up the pressure on our representatives to swiftly pass the Afghan Adjustment Act.
Join us and let your members of Congress know you want the Afghan Adjustment Act passed now.
It’s been almost two years since Kabul fell to the Taliban -- leaving thousands of Afghans vulnerable. They have waited long enough, facing continuing uncertainty about their long-term status in the U.S. Many Afghan evacuees have been able to temporarily reside in the United States via humanitarian parole and/or Temporary Protected Status, yet most lack a viable path to permanent legal status and are eager to solidify their futures in the U.S.
The introduction of the Afghan Adjustment Act shows our efforts are working and progress is being
made to provide Afghan families the stability they need, but unless Congress passes this bill, evacuated Afghans have limited options.
Tell Congress to resolve the long-term status of Afghan evacuees and provide them with a permanent solution.
Afghan parolees have fled violence and persecution. They deserve the opportunity to rebuild their lives permanently -- without having to wait years for asylum and without the fear of potentially having to return to Afghanistan. Afghan evacuees are our neighbors, coworkers, and our children’s friends at school. They are members of our community.
The time for Congress to pass the Afghan Adjustment Act is now. Urge your members of Congress to act.
Thank you for taking action for our Afghan allies,
Dan Kosten Assistant Vice President of Policy & Advocacy National Immigration Forum
